The Chicago Bach Project, presented by Soli Deo Gloria, is returning to Chicago for its third year with a performance of Bach’s great choral masterpiece, the sublime Mass in B Minor. Hearing this work performed in a sacred space, which is what Bach originally intended, is sure to be a moving experience. The venue of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Lincoln Park, with its soaring ceilings, stained-glass windows, and beautiful front altar, offers a stunning visual environment and enhances the spiritual richness of the music.

Soli Deo Gloria's Psalms Project continues to expand, and the next world premiere, by Latvian composer Ēriks Ešenvalds, is scheduled for Friday, November 10, 2012, at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Netherlands, by Polyphony, Stephen Layton, conductor. Richard Morrison of The Times (London) has called attention to the "reams of lush, well-crafted, listener-friendly choral music [that] has come out of the Baltic states in recent decades," and describes Ēriks Ešenvalds' style as "quite close to James MacMillan or John Taverner."

The historic Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh, Scotland, was packed on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 (sold out weeks in advance!) for the world premiere of James MacMillan’s Since it was the day of preparation…, a work co-commissioned by Soli Deo Gloria, with the Edinburgh Festival, Hebrides Ensemble, and Kings Place. The Hebrides Ensemble (cello, clarinet, horn, harp, theorbo), directed by cellist William Conway, joined forces with vocal quartet Synergy Vocals and solo bass Brindley Sherratt, who sang the central role of Christ. Reviews for the 80-minute work, based on the resurrection narrative from the Gospel of St. John, are coming in with high praise.

One of the oldest and most prestigious music festivals in Britian, the Cheltenham Music Festival, is known for premieres of contemporary music. This year's program was no exception. On Thursday, July 5, 2012, the BBC Singers, under the direction of David Hill, performed "one epic concert" (The Times, London) with five premieres in one night. It was Soli Deo Gloria's privilege to be the sponsor of one of the five, the UK prmiere of Missa a Capella by Einojuhani Rautavaara.
