On Friday, March 2, 2012, 8:00 p.m. CST (9:00 p.m. EST; 2:00 a.m. March 3 GMT) the Chicago classical radio station, 98.7 WFMT, is re-broadcasting the 2011 Chicago Bach Project performance of the St. Matthew Passion.

This is a broadcast you won't want to miss. The original concert was the launch event for SDG's Chicago Bach Project in April 2011 and was aired live on WFMT. The concert received rave reviews from critics and audience alike, and was named "One of the Top 10 Performances of 2011" by Chicago Classical Review.

If you weren't fortunate enough to be part of that original audience (or if you were and want to hear this gorgeous music again!), this is your opportunity. Tune into 98.7 WFMT, if you're in the Chicagoland area, or visit where the broadcast will be streaming. To enhance your listening experience, we invite you to follow the text and original translation by Sandra von Valtier. Ms. von Valtier is a retired professor of ancient philosophy and humanities, and a specialist in ancient and modern languages, and we are grateful for her permission to share her translation, which was printed in the 2011 program book.

We hope that this beautiful sacred music contributes a deep richness to your Lenten experience.

And don't forget to purchase your tickets now for the St. John Passion performance on April 4, 2012 (or mark your calendars to hear this live broadcast at 8:00 p.m. CST).
